Yucca Mountain Oversight
The most direct inpact to land uses from a rail operation through Mineral County occurs at the Walker River Piaute Tribe lands (Schurz), Mina, and Luning. The existing rail line used for ammunition shipments passing through Tribal lands enroute to Hawthorne Army Ammunition Depot (HAAD). Other than those areas, the existing and former route traverses primarily public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management. For a short distance the existing route enters U.S. Department of Defense lands at the Hawthorne Army Ammunition Depot.
